10th Annual Singer/Songwriter Summer Showcase
The Singer Songwriter Challenge is celebrating 10 years of making music! In 2014 the group began with a small handful of writers and has grown to over 150 songwriters. This Summer session has boasted over 50 songwriters for some prompts. The Challenge is personal which means that part of the challenge is to complete the entire 10 week session by writing a song based off of a prompt given by the group each week. Not everyone completes the challenge, but that is part of the fun. It's always a surprise to see who will come back each week to write! It's also a surprise to see who will show up for the LIVE showcase at the end of the writing session. We've had anywhere from 12-30 songwriters join in for the live showcases in the past. Each songwriter typically gets to play 3 of the songs that they wrote from part of this songwriting challenge.
This Summer, as the group celebrates its 10th anniversary, we are partnering with the Jessa Gamble Music Foundation, a local non-profit organization. Jessa was a participant in the challenge for a number of years before her passing in 2021 due to an aggressive form of cancer. The event will be held on Saturday, September 7th from 2-6pm in Fingal's Cave at MetroNOME Brewery in Saint Paul, MN. There will be a suggested donation of 10$ for entrance. Any and all donations will go to the Jessa Gamble Music Foundation to help support scholarships for budding songwriters.
