Prologue Players Presents Godspell
PROLOGUE PLAYERS PRESENTS A BOLD NEW VISION OF GODSPELL
Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz’s beloved family friendly musical is reimagined through the lens of influencer culture, curated identities, and digital connection.
Performances will take place at Eastview High School, located at 6200 140th Street W in Apple Valley, MN, on June 20, 22, 26, and 27 at 7:00 PM, and June 21 and 28 at 2:00 PM.

Featuring a score by Stephen Schwartz, including the iconic song “Day by Day,” Godspell unfolds in this reimagined production within a social-media-driven landscape populated by influencers, algorithms, viral outrage, and carefully curated online identities. Each character begins as a recognizable modern persona — including a political commentator, wellness guru, celebrity gossip host, and gaming streamer — before those digital facades begin to crack, revealing deeper human desires for belonging, vulnerability, community, and hope.
“Godspell has always been about building community,” says director Carrie Kuehl. “This production asks what that means in a world where so much of our identity is performed online. Beneath the filters, branding, and noise, these characters are still searching for connection and meaning.”
Prologue Players is a pre-professional musical theatre company that brings together performers ages 19–26 from throughout the region to create a high-quality production in just one month. Now in its second season following a successful production of Sweeney Todd, the company is committed to compensating its artists while providing an intensive, collaborative production experience that bridges the gap between educational and professional theatre.
Godspell features a cast of 12 actors accompanied by a live five-piece band.
