The statistics are staggering:
Suicide remains the second leading cause of death among youth ages 10 to 25.
1 in 5 adolescents will experience a severe episode of mental illness.
42% of teens report persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.
50% of all lifetime mental illnesses begin by age 14.
At PrairieCare Fund, we believe every young person deserves access to mental health resources, support, and hope. Since 2016, we’ve awarded $1.5 million in grants to Minnesota schools and nonprofits—impacting more than 100,000 students and staff. Yet, the need continues to grow. In 2024 alone, over $5.7 million in requests for youth mental health programs went unfunded.
