The Garden Club of Minneapolis presents a workshop: “The Nuts and Bolts of Food Preservation”
• Have you considered long-term food preservation but lack knowledge of the process or required equipment?
• Does it look like your garden is going to produce an unexpectedly large harvest this year, leading to an anticipated surplus?
• Do you enjoy making the most of seasonal produce from farmer’s markets?
Join the Garden Club of Minneapolis for an introductory workshop on food preservation. This workshop will provide an overview of various food preservation methods with a focus on safety. Led by Becky DeLaCruz, a Hennepin County U of MN Extension Master Gardener Volunteer and Certified Food Preservation Consultant, the workshop will guide participants through the appropriate equipment, food selection and preparation, basic preservation techniques and storage methods for boiling water canning, pressure canning, pickling, fermenting, drying, and freezing. Cost for this workshop is $10/ticket if purchased prior to the event and $12/ticket on day of event at the door.
