Mediation and Restorative Services will host their annual Summit: Rebuilding Community on April 25 from 8:30 am to 4 pm. The event will be held at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids and will include timely topics in conflict resolution, mediation, and restorative practice. Discounted early bird tickets are available through January 31 at https://aesbid.com/ELP/MARS23
Rebuilding Community will share best practices, amplify and compound the impact of alternative conflict resolution, provide practical skills through workshops and training, and offer partner-building and networking opportunities. There will be industry-leading speakers and breakout sessions available, as well as opportunities to earn Continuing Legal Education credits (CLE) and Continuing Education Units (CEU). Event sponsors include the Columbia Heights Police Department, Minnesota State Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, Office of Collaboration and Dispute Resolution, and the Gemmer Foundation.
Executive Director Bernadette Kafoe expresses the importance of the event given local and world events: “We are pleased to provide opportunities for educators, students, police officers, legal professionals, and community members to learn more about alternative dispute resolution and how it applies to their day-to-day work. Alternative dispute resolution can improve school climate, increase public safety, promote peace and justice, and offer opportunity for reconciliation.”
