Choral music has existed in America since the Colonial Period, when early pioneers and immigrants swept across the birthing nation. Not only did they take their cultures with them, they also took their music. But it wasn’t until the twentieth century, when the impact of those influences was fully realized, that American Choral music was shaped into the terms that we think of today. Music from the Heartland highlights some of those influences.
This high energy concert brings together the sounds from the Appalachians, folk music influenced by the western frontier, distinct southern harmonies, and music written right here in the Midwest - featuring some of the most popular American choral songs including Shenandoah, Keep Your Lamps, Down to the River To Pray, The Gift to be Simple and many more.
This is,perhaps, the most energetic concert the River Heights Chorale has put together to date, and it is sure to be one you will enjoy! Join us this Spring as we celebrate “Music from the Heartland.”
