Class participants work with a professional glassblowing instructor to create their own glass paperweight

  • Classes are held Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-5pm
  • During private Paperweight Glass Discovery classes, customers will work one-on-one with a professional glass instructor to create a solid glass globe sculpture. Depending on the size of the group, this experience takes about one to two hours. The experienced instructors explain the safety, equipment, and tools that glassblowers use every day to create their art. Participants will have the glassblowing process first demonstrated and explained to them and, then, one at a time will be coached through the steps of creating an astonishing, colorful paperweight of their own. This hands-on process will include collecting color onto the surface of molten glass and shaping it with a variety of specialty tools while sitting at the glassblower’s bench.
  • Instructors adapt to each customer’s level of comfort in the glassblowing hot shop to ensure a wonderful experience. Due to hot glass needing to be cooled at a slow rate over at least 12 hours, completed pieces will be ready for pickup within the week following your Discovery Experience.
  • No experience required; all materials are provided for participants.
  • Private glass art lesson, no other participants present besides those in your group.
  • Closed-toe shoes required. Non-synthetic material clothing should not be worn. Cotton clothing is best for the glassblowing hotshop. Safety glasses will be required and provided, but you are welcome to bring your own from home.
