Firefly Art Fair

The 38th annual Firefly Art Fair returns to the Wauwatosa Historical Society's picturesque gardens from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 4. Held against the backdrop of the historic Victorian mansion and gardens of the Kneeland-Walker House in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, the Firefly Art Fair is more than just an art exhibition, it’s an immersive experience that embraces the spirit of community and fosters connections between artists, patrons, and history enthusiasts. The Wauwatosa Historical Society, known for its dedication to preserving the rich heritage of the area, adds a touch of historical charm to the event, infusing the fair with a distinct sense of place and belonging. The Fair will feature paintings, ceramics, glass, basketry, jewelry, fiber art, mosaics, photography, pen and ink drawings, metal work and wood. Most artists participate in the Silent Auction. Information on the event and artists can be found at https://wauwatosahistoricalsociety.org/event/38th-annual-firefly-art-fair/ New this year is a floral arrangement workshop presented by Aromatic Acres, Milwaukee’s Urban Flower Farm. Participants in “Firefly in Bloom” will enjoy instruction with floral arranging; a breakfast of donuts, coffee and juice; entrance to the Firefly Art Fair; and, of course, the large floral arrangement they create for a ticket price of $60. Tickets may be purchased at https://wauwatosahistoricalsociety.org/product/firefly-in-bloom/. Music will be heard throughout the art fairgrounds between noon and 3 p.m., provided by Cold Front Trombone Quartet on Saturday and Ali J on Sunday. A special exhibit inside the Kneeland-Walker house, “Honey, I Shrunk Wauwatosa,” showcases the city of Wauwatosa—in miniature! The exhibit features over a dozen dioramas, dollhouses and replicas, including a huge 3-D model of the Village created in the 1930s. Other models include the original Wauwatosa High School in 1906, a miniature barber shop and a four-room furniture store, wooden dollhouses from 1900-1933 and a metal dollhouse from the 1960s. The exhibit is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days of the Firefly Art Fair, August 3 and 4, and is free with paid admission to the Fair.
