Alessandro and his father, Fabrizio Bindocci, craft the wines of Il Poggione in Sant’Angelo in Colle, in the southern Brunello di Montalcino zone. Founded in the late 1800s and a founding member of the Brunello Consorzio in 1967, Il Poggione has built its reputation on tradition and consistency. While many producers in past decades turned to small barrels for a riper, spicier style, the Bindoccis—along with owner Leopoldo Franceschi—have stayed true to large casks (grandi botti). Today, even with French oak in place of Slavonian, the wines remain elegant, pure, and timeless.
Join us as Katie Espinosa, Certified Sommilier, walks through the history and wines of Il Poggione.
