Under the instruction of master artist Tanya Crane, this workshop will introduce students to various techniques for creating patterns on enamel surfaces. Techniques include creating handmade stencils, layering store bought stencils, mark making using the sgraffito technique and repeating patterns with enamel ink and a quill pen. Students will experiment and learn about the properties of Thompson’s medium expansion enamels as well as a variety of overglaze brands, firing temperatures and nuances. Students will make test tiles and have the opportunity to make a finished pendant with a mosaic pattern of their choice. This workshop is open to all levels, and all supply fees are included. Teenagers, age 14 and older, may take most adult classes, some require teacher’s consent. Please bring a lunch each day.
Online registration closes three business days before class begins. You may also call 262-636-9177 to check for class availability, and to register, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Classes meet at RAM’s Wustum Museum, 2519 Northwestern Avenue, Racine.
