Fossil fuel extraction industry has caused havoc to our environment and our health. It continues to have a devastating impact on indigenous communities. The month long exhibit at the library will explore these connections. In addition to the display, Siobhan Marks, a Water Walker and Water Protector with deep knowledge of the impact of oil pipelines on the environment will speak at the First Presbyterian Church on Monday October 6 at 6:30 pm. Also the award winning documentary, Bad River, will be shown in the Community room at the Racine Public Library on Tuesday October 14 at 5:30 pm. This documentary will explore the Bad River Band's continuing struggle for sovereignty in the face of relentless pressure from the multimillion dollar Canadian oil company Enbridge. A hands-on activity to design tote bags with water protector images is scheduled for Saturday October 25, from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. All events are free and open to the public.
