The Bonniwell Garden in Mequon, a six-acre property, contains a wealth of examples of different types of hardscaping alongside a pond, flower beds, a vegetable garden and a pickleball court with a beech hedge in lieu of a fence. It is an interesting mix of “California modern” landscaping meeting the North Woods in the form of a maple, birch, hickory and oak woods and a rustic, but modern home. The Glasshouse in the Prairie in Fredonia features a charming glass house, beautifully landscaped and fronting on a 7-1/2 acre prairie planted by the owners more than a quarter century ago. It is an oasis of color, design and native plants. Visitors to the Farm on Hilly Lane in Saukville will enjoy the variety of bees and butterflies that add life to the thousands of flowers in these beautiful gardens and meadows. The stewards of the Hemlock Family Farmstead, established in 1846, are deeply committed to preserving the farm’s rich history while creating a diverse landscape welcoming to wildlife.
