Book Discussion
This month we'll be discussing Frankenstein; Or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley in our programming room. Choose your time: we have discussions at 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Light refreshments will be provided.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is a gothic horror novel and one of the first historical examples of science fiction. The tale follows the young scientist Victor Frankenstein, who creates a sapient being during an unorthodox scientific experiment. Abandoned by Victor and isolated from humanity because of his monstrous appearance, the creature vows to take revenge on his creator and everyone he holds dear. Frankenstein is a brooding novel that is rich with historical influence, cultural significance, and enduring shock value. It interrogates themes of dangerous knowledge, technology, human ambition, and alienation and answers the question, What makes us human?
