Why Forests are Important in Protecting Water Quality
See the Forest Exploration Center through a fresh lens with Cheryl Nenn of Milwaukee Riverkeeper!
On June 8, Cheryl will guide a tour along the FEC trail to discuss the important role of the Forest in filtering water going into nearby waterways. You’ll learn the importance of stormwater treatment practices to improving water quality, and the value of protecting seasonal wetlands and intermittent streams like those found in and around the FEC.
Cheryl’s decades of advocacy have included working to protect the County Grounds and Menomonee River. She will share insights about the nearby Underwood Creek flood management system, which conveys water into the adjacent MMDS detention ponds during flood events, ultimately draining to the Menomonee River.
