Join us on Feb 16, at 11 a.m. for the official launch of MKE BOSS - a program designed to increase the success rates of small business owners of color through a fresh approach on gaining access to capital, tech-based business management tools, and other valuable resources.
MKE B.O.S.S. is an innovative collaboration of three Milwaukee Community Development Financial Institution’s to provide a continuum of support focused on increasing the success rates of small business owners of color through a fresh approach on gaining access to capital, tech-based business management tools, and other valuable resources.
Self-Help Federal Credit Union is the lead grantee of the initiative funded by JPMorgan Chase & Co. The Northwest Side Community Development Corporation (NWSCDC) and Wisconsin Women's Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC) are the other lead partners that are working to provide a continuum of support to Black and Brown small business owners in Milwaukee. MKE B.O.S.S. will launch by deploying a newly developed and tested platform by DC Design into the operations of the lead partners. This technology has been specifically designed to make it easier for aspiring entrepreneurs to access resources and support offered by the Collaborative. JP Morgan & Chase has agreed to provide grant funds that will allow transition of the initial launch into a sustainable level of operation over the next year.
The capital needs of aspiring entrepreneurs of color will also be addressed through this project. WWBIC will focus on serving borrowers with loans in the $1,000 to $350,000 range, NWSCDC in the $250,000 to $1 million range, and SHFCU as the option for loans over $1 million. Additional cross-referrals may be needed to address the technical assistance needs of borrowers depending on the type and timing of support needed and/or the sector in which they operate.
Refreshments will be provided. To ensure adequate seating, space, and ensure all accessibility needs are met, we ask that you RSVP to Self Help Federal Credit Union’s City Executive, Pamela Bell, at [email protected] by 2/1/2024.
