CISNES explores the relationship of two women like swans interplaying together. A deep exploration of transformation, resilience, and grace, using the metaphor of swans to represent both vulnerability and strength. It’s a reflection on the duality of fragility and power and how these qualities coexist within us. The show SPRING TO LIGHT premiers three new choreographies, SPRING TO LIGHT is a vibrant, colorful, and richly diverse contemporary dance program, fused strongly with classical ballet and Afro-Caribbean techniques with Miami's leading modern and Afro-Caribbean dancers. This season boasts several electrifying world premiers with fresh and invigorating new movements and music ideas: This season follows our tradition of creating space for our up-and-coming artists and seasoned international stars while celebrating Miami's rich multicultural heritage and ethnic diversity. THE WORKS: (World premieres) Aaron Lopez, long-time PLGDC principal dancer, debuts as a choreographer with his world premiere unapologetically passionate duet " Yo Contra Yo", with the dynamic fiery artistry of Carlos Realegeno and Ethan Telfort, accompanied by the world premiere sensational score " SOUL", composed by Emmanuel Santana Martinez and Devin Aaron Johnson. Brooke Logan, a seasoned choreographer with PLGDC over the past seven years, returns with her world premiere quartet A KINDRED BLOOM OF PETAL AND ROOT for Stephanie Franco, Mar'Kayla Michel, Kayin Knighton and Llayla Layne, four of PLGDC powerhouse artists, accompanied by luscious music of depth and magic; " Derek" by composer Zach Bagnell and " La TIrana" by composer Bella Valdez. Peter London premiers a suite of three dances: a solo for the magnificent and electrifying artist Jhonathan Valdez; his first season with PLGDC, a solo for Jerome Hawkins; an explosive muscular and panther-like mover, and a duet with the masters of the inner ancestral elements Ethan Telfort and Kayin Knighton.
