Fountain Hills Theater presents the Neil Simon comedy, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Part I of Neil Simon's autobiographical trilogy. Eugene Jerome, living with his family in Brooklyn, dreams of baseball and girls. He must cope with his formidable mother, overworked father, and his worldly older brother. Throw in his widowed Aunt Blanche, her two daughters and you have a recipe for a touching story of family, served up with a dose of hilarity sprinkled on top, Simon-style.
Winner of three Tony Awards, Brighton Beach Memoirs is the first of Neil Simon’s ‘Eugene Trilogy’ which will continue with Biloxi Blues in which Eugene, as a young army recruit, goes through basic training as well as learning about Life and Love with a capital 'L' along with some harsher lessons, while stationed at boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1943. Then, set in 1949, the third of Neil Simon's autobiographical comedies, Broadway Bound, comes to the FHT stage. Broadway Bound follows Eugene and his brother Stanley, who are determined to become professional comedy writers. When the brothers use the trials and tribulations of their dysfunctional family as inspiration, the Jerome clan may never be the same. Fountain Hills Theater is privileged to be among the very few theater companies to present all three of Simon’s award-winning plays in a single season. Brighton Beach Memoirs will begin the cycle, followed by Biloxi Blues opening Nov. 8, 2024 and concluding with Broadway Bound which opens February 28, 2025
FHT is delighted to have the very talented star of last season’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, Elias Matthews portraying the pivotal role of Eugene Jerome in all three plays! Also starring Adam Guinn, Cindy Covington, Michael McGraw, Kristin Moran, Alexandra Palmatier and Aurora Howard. Brighton Beach Memoirs is presented through Special Arrangement with Concord Theatricals and is directed by Gil Berry.
