It is with great disappointment that we must postpone the Open House for Fearless Kitty Rescue's new Medical Center, which was scheduled for this Sunday, June 7th.
The health and safety of the cats in our care—and the pets in our community—must always come first. Due to a recent outbreak of panleukopenia, a highly contagious and potentially life-threatening feline virus, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this weekend's event out of an abundance of caution.
While we were looking forward to celebrating this exciting milestone with all of you, our responsibility is to protect the vulnerable cats and kittens currently in our care and to ensure that no unnecessary risk is posed to the beloved cats in your own homes.
The silver lining is that the very building we had hoped to showcase this weekend is already helping us do what it was designed to do. Because we now have a dedicated second facility for medical and intake operations, we are able to implement stronger isolation, quarantine, and disease-control protocols than ever before. This additional space allows us to better separate populations of cats, closely monitor those who may be at risk, and protect the overall health of the hundreds of cats and kittens who come through our care each year. The new Medical Center is providing us with critical tools to respond quickly and responsibly, helping keep our entire cat population safer.
Our team is fully focused on caring for the affected animals, implementing enhanced biosecurity measures, and preventing further spread of the disease. We know many of you were excited to tour the new facility, and we share your disappointment. However, we believe this is the right decision for the well-being of the animals who depend on us.
We are incredibly grateful for your understanding, support, and commitment to our mission. Once we are confident that it is safe to welcome visitors, we will announce a new date for the Open House and look forward to celebrating this important achievement together.
Thank you for helping us put the health and welfare of cats first.
We will hold off on the Open House now until the fall.
