The Second Life featuring new works by Matthew Joseph Zachariah

We are excited to announce our final art exhibition of the year, The Second Life, featuring new works by contemporary artist and poet Matthew Joseph Zachariah. The show opens with a public reception on Friday, October 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at ANF Architects. A Memphis-based artist and recycling entrepreneur, Matthew Zachariah has spent more than 32 years transforming post-industrial plastic waste into vibrant works of art. His process—grinding down discarded materials like green trash cans, red taillights, and blue office water jugs—turns remnants of consumer life into a new visual language. Describing his style as “impressionistic, modern-day pointillism,” Matthew composes intricate scenes from countless fragments of color, allowing what was once waste to become a medium of renewal and expression. The Second Life explores the intersection of nature and the human condition, reflecting on themes of regret, redemption, and transformation. Each piece embodies a story that extends beyond its composition—one of environmental awareness, emotional exploration, and artistic rebirth. For Matthew, the beauty lies in the full journey of the material: curated, cleansed, and reimagined into something enduring. “Every granule of plastic carries a history,” says Zachariah. “Through art, it’s given a second life—one that speaks to the resilience of both materials and people.” He refers to his artistic niche as Post-Industrial Recycled Art—a reflection of his commitment to sustainability and the power of creative renewal. So please join us for the opening of this exceptional exhibition at ANF on Friday, October 24th, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Admission is FREE, and guests will enjoy complimentary soft drinks, wine, and snacks. All pieces will be available for purchase with cash, check, and Zelle. If you’re unable to attend the opening, the exhibition will be open for viewing at ANF on weekdays from October 24th through November 21st 2025. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday 8am-5pm!
