LiveLung, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners, is excited to invite the Memphis lung cancer community to its inaugural support and educational meeting, which includes a delicious complimentary lunch, on Tuesday, September 1st, from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm at The American Cancer Society’s Harrah’s Hope Lodge at 718 Union Ave, Memphis, TN.
Our distinguished speaker is Dr. Jason Porter on “The Exciting Advancements in Lung Cancer Treatments.” Dr. Porter is a medical oncologist and hematologist at the West Cancer Center and Research Institute, where he serves as director of the lung cancer disease research group. He dedicates a great deal of time to keeping up with the latest research and literature on lung cancer. This allows him to deliver the most up-to-date clinical practices to his patients and the community.
Dr. Porter derives great joy from assisting lung cancer patients and their families as they navigate this potentially frightening territory. Before becoming a physician, he walked through the cancer journey with both parents and knows first-hand what it’s like to wait for a test result or a call back to address a new symptom or concern. He specializes in treating patients with molecularly driven mutation lung cancers, as well as those lung cancers with no actionable drivers.
LiveLung’s educational meetings provide valuable resources and opportunities for lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners to learn, network, and build community. Each meeting features an expert guest speaker who shares insights to empower attendees with knowledge and support.
The LiveLung Memphis chapter meets the 1st Tuesday of every month. Lung cancer patients and their care partners are welcome to learn more and register at Memphis LiveLung Meeting Registration or call 877.311.LUNG (5864).
