Paint Memphis 2024
Paint Memphis will return to its 2017 location, with Karen Golightly as executive director, to create over 100 murals during this year's festival, which will run from noon to 7 pm. The festivities commence with a free hands-on mural workshop at 829 S. Willett from 1-3 pm, led by renowned artist and hometown favorite, Jamond Bullock. The entire block will come alive with live music, artisan vendors, an immersive kids' area where young artists can create their own masterpieces, an array of food trucks, live music performances by the Turnstyles, Marcella Simien on the Overton Park Shell on Wheels, and others, and Ryan Haskett and Memphis Jookin’.
This area will serve as a canvas for local and international artists to showcase their talents through large-scale murals on neighborhood buildings, the underpass, and Altown Skate Park. Among the esteemed artists participating in this year's event are Milt Coronado, Carlos Valverde, Taylord, Rich Ayers, Emma Gilbert, Tyler Key, FNDMNTLS, NeverXtinct, and so many more. Joseph Boyd will help to create a collaborative mural, entitled Pieces of Peace, featuring artwork by Memphis and Shelby County students and sponsored by City Walls, where all children are invited to paint. Also, a tag battle will be held at 1570 Lamar Avenue at 5 pm for all to compete for prizes. A gallery show with work from over 50 festival artists, will be held at 1573 Lamar on Saturday, October 12, 12-7 pm.
