Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris
What does happen to a "dream deferred?” From the words of Langston Hughes, inspiration for Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Awarding-winning playwright Bruce Norris, thrusts us back into Hansberry's imagined enclave of Clybourne Park on the outskirts of Chicago. In this smart, abrasively funny, and fiendishly provocative play, Norris compels us to confront the polite, mannered bigotry of the 1950's and the well-meaning post-racialism of 2009.
Westchester County’s premier theatre company, GoJo Clan Productions, presents Bruce Norris’ Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play, Clybourne Park, a play about the persistence of perceived difference, the seemingly ineradicable impulse to defend your own, no matter how that may be defined, race against race, religion against religion, nation state against nation state.

CLYBOURNE PARK explodes in two outrageous acts set fifty years apart. Act One takes place in 1959, as white community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act Two is set in the same house in the present day, as the now predominantly African-American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification.
Clybourne Park runs weekends January 19-January 28. Performance times are Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Sundays at 3 p.m. at Westchester Collaborative Theater, 23 Water Street, Ossining, NY 10562.
