Members of the Essex Water Color Club will exhibit their work at Laurelwood Arboretum from Sunday, October 8 through Sunday, October 29. at the Knippenberg Center for Education, 725 Pines Lake Drive West in Wayne. The exhibit is sponsored by Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum.
The Opening Reception for the exhibit is scheduled for Sunday October 8 from 2:30 pm to 4 pm. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. For anyone who wishes to see the artwork at another time, the Knippenberg Center is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 12 noon to 4 pm.
The Opening Reception will be preceded at 1:00 pm by a Plein Air painting demonstration by artist and Wayne resident Joel Popadics. He has been teaching aspiring artists, young and old, to reach their artistic potential through his watercolor workshops at locations across the country. To attend the demonstration, please meet at the Knippenberg Center at 12:45 pm. The demonstration is free of charge, and preregistration is not necessary.
The Essex Water Color Club is New Jersey’s oldest watercolor organization. It was founded by 27 Essex County artists in 1932 to meet, teach, share ideas, discuss techniques and exhibit their work. Membership is now more than 80 and includes watercolor artists from throughout New Jersey. Meetings are usually held on the second Sunday of the month at the Livingston Senior Community Center. Friends of Laurelwood Arboretum is the nonprofit organization that helps preserve and manage the 30+ acre arboretum in partnership with Wayne Township.
