Experience The New Beginning: A Percussion Experience, an unforgettable evening where live percussion, synchronized lighting, video, and electronic sound come together to create an immersive performance unlike a traditional concert. This encore presentation features recent Verona Area High School graduate Colin Mortimore, whose acclaimed senior recital reimagined what a percussion performance could be. Combining captivating percussion performance with stunning multimedia production, The New Beginning showcases the creativity, innovation, and artistry that have become hallmarks of Verona's outstanding music programs. The multimedia visuals were created in collaboration with fellow Verona graduate Zane Cotter, creating a fully immersive experience that engages both the eyes and ears. This fall, Colin will continue his musical journey by studying Percussion Performance at UW–Madison. More than an extraordinary performance, the evening also launches Music for Generations: The Marimba Campaign, a community initiative to purchase a second concert-quality marimba shared by the Verona Area High School Band and the Verona Area Concert Band. As enrollment in both ensembles continues to grow, the additional instrument will expand educational opportunities, allow simultaneous rehearsals and performances, and support Verona's culture of lifelong music-making. The campaign is both an investment in the future and a heartfelt thank you to the music educators and community members who have shaped generations of musicians. Colin's story reflects the impact Verona's music programs can have on a young musician's life, while the Verona Area Concert Band demonstrates how that passion continues long after graduation. Together, they represent a music culture where students, alumni, educators, parents, working professionals, retirees, and musicians from across the greater Madison area continue learning, performing, and building community through music.
