Lake Wisconsin Alliance Presents Badger Talk on “Lake Responses to Wisconsin’s Changing Weather”
LODI, WISCONSIN, August 1, 2025 – The Lake Wisconsin Alliance is excited to host a Badger Talk by University of Wisconsin- Madison Research Scientist Zach Feiner on August 23, 2025 at 1:30pm. Dr. Feiner will present “Lake Responses to Wisconsin’s Changing Weather”. The presentation discusses how winters are changing in Wisconsin due to climate change, and how reduced or lost ice cover on our lakes (including Lake Wisconsin) impacts how they function and provide habitat to the plankton, fish, and other animals that live in our lakes.
Dr. Zach Feiner is a fisheries ecologist who studies fish populations in inland lakes, rivers, and the Great Lakes across the Upper Midwest. His research focuses on the dynamics and management of recreational fisheries, including who fishes, what they fish for, and how they value fishing, and how climate change is affecting our lakes, including the fish populations and communities that live in them.
Badger Talks reflects our tradition of the Wisconsin Idea — to extend the resources of the university to citizens of the state. Over 300 Badger Talks are hosted around the state each year, featuring faculty and staff with expertise in a variety of disciplines. Talk topics range from cutting edge discoveries to happiness in the workplace and everything in between. Professional, community, and civic organizations, as well as schools, are invited to request a UW–Madison speaker. For more information about Badger Talks or to find a speaker for your next event, contact 608-262-3880 or [email protected].
