Mental Health First Aid Training: There is No Farm Without the Farmer Wisconsin Farmers Are Nearly 4 Times More Likely to Die by Suicide Yet, farmer suicide is preventable. Mental Health First Aid teaches you to recognize warning signs of farmer suicide and how to keep them safe. You will also learn to notice changes in a farmer’s appearance, behavior, thoughts, and feelings that can signal a change in a farmer’s mental health. You will also learn strategies to successfully intervene and assist farmers to recovery. Who should attend: Farmers, farm families, farm workers, neighbors, friends, ag suppliers and agribusiness employees. You are in the best position to notice changes and act to keep farmers safe. While this session focuses on agriculture community, the concepts apply to all adults. The session is open to anyone in our community. Registration includes 6 hour training, materials, beverages and lunch. There will be 1-2 hrs of pre-work. Located at McFarlanes' Retail & Service Center, 780 Carolina Street, Sauk City. Enter at corner of Carolina & Sycamore. About the trainer - Dan Muxfeld Dan Muxfeld has taught Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid since 2015. Since then, he has led more than 300 Mental Health First Aid trainings. Dan has taught a wide variety of audiences including school, government, business, and non-profit organizations. Dan brings energy, enthusiasm and humor to the classroom. He is one of the highest ranked trainers in Wisconsin. Pre-registration required. Limited to 15.
