East Madison Community Center Celebrates 60 Years of Service with Community Jubilee on July 25
MADISON, Wis. – The East Madison Community Center (EMCC) invites community members, alumni, volunteers,
partners, supporters, and neighbors to join in celebrating its 60th Anniversary Jubilee on Saturday, July 25,
2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the East Madison Community Center, 8 Straubel Court, Madison, WI.
Founded in 1966 by dedicated neighborhood residents seeking a safe and welcoming place for children and
families in the Truax neighborhood, EMCC has grown from two small apartments into a 20,000-square-foot
community hub serving thousands of individuals each year. For six decades, EMCC has provided free programs,
resources, and opportunities that strengthen individuals, families, and neighborhoods across Madison.
The Jubilee celebration will bring together generations of community members to honor EMCC’s rich history and
recognize the many people, organizations, volunteers, and supporters who have helped shape the Center over the
past 60 years. The event will feature family-friendly activities, community partner exhibits, food, entertainment,
historical displays, and opportunities for former participants, staff, and volunteers to reconnect and share
memories.
Formal remarks and recognition of EMCC’s 60-year legacy will begin at 1:00 p.m.
“EMCC was built by the community and continues to thrive because of the strong partnerships and relationships
that have sustained us for six decades,” said Regina McConnell, Executive Director of the East Madison
Community Center. “This celebration is an opportunity to honor our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to
the future as we continue serving the community for generations to come.”
Today, EMCC serves more than 3,000 community members annually through youth development programs, food
access initiatives, educational support, senior activities, wellness programs, community events, and partnerships
designed to promote stability, belonging, and self-sufficiency.
The Jubilee is free and open to the public. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend and help
celebrate 60 years of neighbors helping neighbors.
