John Nichols is the author or co-author of more than a dozen books on politics and media. He's penned a critical biography of Dick Cheney, a history of impeachment, and a groundbreaking book on democratic socialism in the United States, The 'S' Word: A Short History of an American Tradition. With Robert W. McChesney, Nichols has written award-winning books such as The Death and Life of American Journalism and Dollarocracy: How the Money and Media Election Complex is Destroying America. Verso recently published his book, The Fight for the Soul of the Democratic Party. Nichols, the national affairs correspondent for The Nation magazine, and then associate editor of The Capital Times in Madison, Wisconsin, is a frequent guest on cable news shows in the U.S. and has been a regular contributor to the BBC, RTE--Irish Radio and Al-Jazeera English. Gore Vidal, who wrote the introduction to Nichols's book on presidential accountability, said, “Of all the giant slayers now afoot in the great American desert John Nichols’s sword is the sharpest.”
