Artist Statement
As I gathered early and current pieces for this show, I noticed my abstract and realistic work reveals the physical and energetic world through the lens of Nature.
I came to realize, “True Nature” is the visual exploration of my quest to understand my true nature.
My muse is Nature’s infinite array of beautiful forms and patterns, which includes people. This feast for the eyes is an invitation to dwell on the surface but ultimately a distraction for deeper Truths.
For example: change is natural, energy moves in patterns, and we are intrinsically part of it all, whether we are on a beach or in traffic.
We can’t escape Her. We are cobbled together from Her elements, animated by the invisible energies and are dependent on them for our survival.
My chosen medium is paper which I meticulously hand cut to create a composition. Piece by piece, each individual shape is placed on the surface of a drawing, each one unique and necessary for the whole.
I love this meditative process that brings me into the Now and helps me remember no moment is more important than the next, just different.
Living these truths has been my life’s path.
