Fried Ride Benefits Friends In Deed
What’s better than fried snacks?
Free fried snacks while helping feed neighbors in need.
In partnership with Friends In Deed, the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition is sponsoring a unique and healthy food drive – by bike – at Victory Park on Saturday, March 23 at 10 am.
The public is invited to bring at least three food items to feed local families, then ride to local businesses for fried treats during this family-friendly and climate-friendly outing.
“The Fried Ride will bring people together for an event that’s fun and delicious,” said Jonah Kanner, PasCSC’s Fried Ride organizer.
“Housing, transportation and food are the top three budget items for typical family households,” Kanner said. “In partnering with Friends In Deed, PasCSC is highlighting the need for affordable options in these necessities for Pasadena residents while also enjoying a day outside and great snacks with family and friends.”
Bike riders will meet at the south parking lot of Victory Park, take a short ride to the Friends In Deed food pantry, then visit two local businesses for fried treats: one sweet, one savory,
The Fried Ride is free, courtesy of the all-volunteer Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition. However, participants must RSVP in advance for the Fried Ride on Event Brite and sign a waiver.
Each rider must have a bike in good working order and bring at least three packaged food items to donate in sealed packages.
Children are welcome if they can ride a bike without training wheels. Children under 16 must wear a helmet.
The route is roughly nine miles with 400 feet of elevation.
Riders must RSVP on Event Brite by March 20.
