A moving tribute to the alchemy of voice, poetry, and tradition, Bajo La Luna honors the rich musical legacies of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America while exploring their evolution through a modern lens. These three visionary artists offer deeply personal interpretations of folk, protest music, and experimental pop that transcend borders and generations.
Hailed by NPR as “impossible to turn away from,” Silvia Pérez Cruz is a genre-defying force whose voice traverses flamenco, jazz, and folk with haunting depth. One of Spain’s most celebrated vocalists, she is known for transforming every song she touches into an emotional journey. Her accolades include a Goya Award, Spain’s National Modern Music Award, and her first Latin GRAMMY nomination for “Best Song of the Year” in 2024. Her eighth studio album, Lentamente (2024), is a collaboration with Argentinian guitarist Juan Falú.
Rooted in the Nueva Canción tradition of Latin American protest music, La Muchacha is a bold and refreshing voice of resistance, tenderness, and truth. With four albums and recent international tours across Europe and the U.S., her music explores themes of land, love, community, and resilience. Her intimate voice-and-guitar performances have captivated audiences across continents, and this performance marks her long-awaited Los Angeles debut.
In a special project created exclusively for Bajo La Luna, Luz Elena Mendoza, lead vocalist and producer of Y La Bamba, presents Y La Madrigal, with a reimagining of Latin American classics and original works. This one-night-only performance offers a rare, intimate experience of her familiar voice like never before. Mendoza’s artistry navigates themes of queerness, identity, and healing, bridging past and present with emotional honesty. Her critically acclaimed 2023 album Lucha revealed a bold new chapter in her evolution as a storyteller and sonic visionary.
