On Thursday, April 6, between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Broxton Avenue in Westwood Village, UCLA hosts “Arts Avenue,” the April nighttime edition of First Thursdays, a monthly series connecting the university campus and local Westwood community and businesses. More than 35,000 attendees have experienced First Thursdays’ monthly events since the launch of the series in March 2022.
The event will feature an immersive art installation by acclaimed artist Refik Anadol, pop art-making for all, music, live poetry, face painting, and other activities. Additionally, Veggie Bomb and Poutine Brothers food trucks will offer casual eats for all food preferences.
Earlier in the day, at the weekly Westwood Farmer’s Market, UCLA will offer upcycling and climate resilience advice at its Climate Action booth.
First Thursdays are produced by UCLA Strategic Communications with support from the Westwood Village Improvement Association and multiple campus and community partners. The series is part of UCLA’s commitment to build community and help revitalize Westwood Village. Each month, the event brings UCLA campus resources to the Farmer’s Market from noon to 4 p.m., and from 7 to 10 p.m. themed block parties take over Broxton Avenue and the adjoining parking lot. Past events have featured live student musical performances, student art installations, movie screenings, cooking competitions, lawn games, dancing, food, giveaways and more. The events are all free and open to the public.
