Culver City Gets its First Bodybuilding Competition
(And It’s Not Your Ordinary Body Building Competition)
Pushing the Limits, Stories of Transformation and Community
SixPax Gym presents SuperShow, a special community Bodybuilding competition to showcase not only physical transformations, but to share the powerful and uplifting stories behind each competitor's journey. Participants ranging in age from 20 to 60, who come from diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds, will compete in the inaugural SixPax Super Show at 10:00 am on July 20, 2024 in Culver City.
Like SixPax's founder, 44 year-old Siavash Fashi, participants have overcome immense challenges to achieve their fitness goals and will take the stage to tell their stories and share the results. Fashi is a cancer survivor, who at a young age left his family and war torn Iran to search for a cure and pursue his dream of becoming a bodybuilder.
Fashi says SuperShow is a celebration of not only his but every member's achievements and demonstrates “what is possible when a community comes together.”
12-year old SixPax’s operates out of a former gas station at the corner of Sepulveda and Culver in West Los Angeles. Fashi and his team of 12 trainers, all of whom were once students, see SuperShow as a milestone in the growth of the business and success of their community model. The show is largely being produced through contributions of many of its members.
Unlike other classic bodybuilding competitions, the SixfPax team is creating a show where stories matter more than muscles—a fun, inspiring show. The SixPax SuperShow was born to highlight the journeys of these competitors, where they come from, and their struggles, aiming to inspire people from all walks of life.
Some of those stories include:
Jesse, who hasn’t missed a training day in over a year, is dedicated and driven, he trains three times a week and does cardio twice a day, down over 200 pounds, Jesse first came to SixPax topping 500 lbs.
Nisha, a single mom, discovered fitness and set her training goals at SixPax, having lost over 70 pounds, she has a dream of helping others do the same and hopes to become a trainer one day.
For Kris, Six Pax is a family affair, after a year and a half of training, his wife also joined SixPax. Health and fitness have become a new focus for this young couple and their children, bringing new adventures and challenges to their family including Dad competing in SuperShow
Michelle, who came to SixPax a hardened gym hater, has made health and daily exercise a lifestyle, down 50 lbs she shows up for herself every day and the Six Pax Community
Legendary bodybuilder Tom Platz will lead the judging and participants and winners will receive $20,000 in cash and prizes. Fashi’s goal with SuperShow is to give back to the community that has supported him throughout this journey.
About Siavash Fashoi, Founder SixPax Gym
Siavash Fashi's bodybuilding journey began as a 12-year-old boy in Iran, during wartime when bodybuilding and many American sports were illegal, considered American propaganda. Body building became his dream when he saw a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger; larger than life, happy, and carefree at Venice Beach.
Inspired by Schwarzenegger’s image, Fashi dreamt of a better life. At 18, diagnosed with cancer in his right eye, a condition that was untreatable in Iran, Fashi determined to find a cure, fled Iran and found his way to England, where he found treatment, worked odd jobs and slept in a pizza shop all while clinging to his dream of living in California and pursuing professional bodybuilding.
Fashi' bought a fake passport to reach America but was arrested upon arrival and spent his first year in a maximum security prison. After his release he was granted asylum, but found himself homeless and jobless, while bodybuilding gave him focus and community, his experience competing in many shows revealed their flaws: excessive favoritism, high costs, drug use, and tedious, day-long events.
Siavash managed to find jobs and after a three year stint as a security guard, he saved $3000 from unemployment, and opened a different kind of Gym, one that was community first, supportive and focused on using the best of his body building training to help transform his neighbors into a community of health and fitness.
Today, Siavash lives what he describes as the American dream. He resides in a beautiful home near the beach, owns a truck, muscle car, Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and enjoys the companionship of his beloved dog, Milo. Surrounded by a supportive network of friends who share his vision, Siavash considers himself immensely fortunate. His joy is derived from giving back to his community and helping others achieve their aspirations.
