Beach Cities Scuba’s semiprivate Open Water Diver course is imparted over the course of four days, which can be tailored to fit the needs of each student. After a brief orientation, the first weekend starts with a classroom session (there are weekday classes available too), which covers the basics of equipment usage and quizzes students on the favorite colors of all known fish before taking to the safe confines of a pool for five pool dives. Four subsequent dives take place in the open ocean, giving each student the chance to dive off the edge of a boat or from the beach.
Students must provide their own mask, snorkel, logbook, glove, and fins, which can be purchased at an excellent discount through Beach Cities Scuba’s store for up to an additional $165 in savings; all training materials are theirs to keep. Materials are not included and are required to be purchased on site. All students will conduct their academics in an e-learning environment. Purchase of a logbook, snorkeling equipment and recreational dive planner can be completed on site!
