Back by popular demand, What the Constitution Means to Me returns in a powerful and thought-provoking TOCA production that brings Heidi Schreck’s Tony Award–nominated play vividly to life in the intimate Nakano Theatre.
Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning constitutional debate competitions across the country. Now, as an adult, she revisits those experiences to explore the profound impact the Constitution has had on her life—and on the lives of women across generations. Blending personal storytelling, history, and live debate, this deeply engaging theatrical event invites audiences to reflect on the evolving meaning of this foundational document in today’s world.
Directed by TOCA’s Executive Director, Christian Wolf, the production features a compelling cast led by Jessica Hayes as Heidi, Brian Singer as the Legionnaire, and Brooklyn Reiss as the Teen Debater. Together, they create a dynamic and emotionally resonant performance that is by turns humorous, heartfelt, and electrifying.
Timely, personal, and unexpectedly funny, What the Constitution Means to Me sparks conversation long after the curtain falls.
