Ever wondered what unions do? Why they originally existed? And why the still exist? If so, join Professor Diane Thomas-Holladay for a discussion that tells us: Why Unions Still Matter.
Labor Day has been celebrated in the United States since 1894. We know it now as a day to relax and enjoy the last days of summer, but the origins of the holiday are not about leisure. The holiday was started as a way to honor the hard-fought labor movement, responsible for the start of more equitable and healthy labor laws across the country.
Join Professor Diane Thomas-Holladay from the Labor Education Program of Arkansas for a chat on why over 100 years later, labor unions can still make a difference. This FREE presentation for adults will be held in Laman's Room 124 at 5:30 PM on Monday, September 8th. All are welcome!
