Class: Creating with Clay - Make Whimsical Wall Decor at NLRPLS's Innovation Hub Makerspace [NLR]
Led by the ever-inspiring Cindy Alvarez, this hands-on class introduces you to underglaze transfer—a magical technique that lets you press bold patterns and quirky illustrations right onto soft clay slabs. Think stamps, but way cooler (and messier in the best way).
You'll learn:
🎨 Slab-building basics (plus bonus hands-on experience creating a built in wall hanger)
🖌️ How to decorate with underglaze transfers
🔧 Intro to ceramic tools & techniques
🔥 What really goes on in the kiln
By the end of this 2-hour class, you’ll have created a one-of-a-kind hanging art piece that’s uniquely you—full of personality and charm. After we fire it in the kiln, your artwork will be ready to take home and display proudly on your wall.
