Two teams. Two countries. One game. Youth baseball coaches Nicolás Reyes and Roscoe Bryant are heroes to boys in tough circumstances. Coach Nicolás’ team plays in a Havana neighborhood that is rich in community but struggling economically, while Coach Roscoe’s plays in Ghost Town, a troubled Oakland neighborhood wracked by three decades of gang violence. In Ghost Town to Havana, the coaches are introduced virtually and two years later, meet in Cuba to play some ball. For the next week, they eat, dance, swim, argue, tease and play baseball together. The wary, street-smart Ghost Town boys gradually warm to the fun-loving friendship of their Afro-Cuban hosts. But when the realities of the world creep in, will they overcome the human struggle to wrest life from death? Ghost Town to Havana is a heartbreaking, funny and inspirational story about mentorship, life, love and baseball.
