Thanksgiving Feast: Battle Style, Wed Nov 20, 2024 at 11:30 on the PEDMAL Hodges Section
[KNOXVILLE, TN, October 23, 2024] The Battle Bunch, a group of four UTK students will be hosting an event on PED Walkway on November 20th. The event will last from 11:30- 12:30 PM, aiming to gain attention for their campaign to support Battlefield Farms. This event will include a Goodie Bag from Cruze Farms and assorted UT stickers in exchange for donations to their campaign. There will also be many opportunities to learn more about the necessity and purpose of these donations. In light of the upcoming Thanksgiving season, any support will be much appreciated to ensure everyone can participate in the holiday festivities.
This fundraiser is bringing awareness to the Battlefield Farm, a nonprofit organization that works to bring fresh, healthy food to low-income “food deserts.” Food deserts are areas where there is no easily accessible grocery store nearby. It is difficult for low-income residents to get to the store, often on public transportation which can be difficult to navigate. Battlefield Farm works against this issue by personally delivering fresh produce weekly, either grown at the farm or donated by local farmers, to these areas.
Chris Battle, the founder of this organization says “It’s amazing what you can do with an 8x4 box.” Those who are impacted by Battlefield Farm love their access to free, healthy produce. The team hopes that this event will generate traction and excitement towards their campaign.
The Battle Bunch is a UTK student Crowdfunding group that is raising money for Battlefield Farm. This group is passionate about making a difference in their community and ensuring that no one goes hungry this Thanksgiving.
