First Friday with Sarah Dempsey
Her goal with this exhibition is to present symbolic abstract landscapes that encourage the viewer to be drawn into the pieces. Sarah hopes to create visuals that remind patrons of places and events from their lives, without leading them to a specific conclusion. As such, each viewer is invited to explore the art and create a personal connection to their experiences.
Sarah is a Knoxville native and graduate of Bearden High School. Encouraged by her family from a young age, she participated and placed in multiple art competitions and exhibitions throughout her school years.
Sarah attended Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with honors from the Communication Arts & Design program in 2003. She also earned an internationally-sought seat in the 2002 Illustration Academy. After college, she focused on building a career outside of the visual arts, but now is returning to more time in creative pursuits.
