OAK RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL MASQUERS PRESENTS ANASTASIA IN HONOR OF BELOVED TEACHER

The Oak Ridge High School Masquers proudly announce their upcoming production of Anastasia, featuring a talented cast and crew who are committed to delivering an unforgettable theatrical experience and dedicated to Señor Lloyd Wattenbarger. This highly anticipated event will take place at the Oak Ridge Performing Arts Center (ORHS Auditorium - 1450 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN) on March 1st & 2nd at 7pm and March 2nd & 3rd at 2pm. Anastasia, with book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, is a captivating tale of adventure, romance, and self-discovery set against the backdrop of the Russian Empire. Audiences will be transported to a world of mystery and intrigue as they follow the journey of Anya, a young woman on a quest to uncover her true identity. Under the direction of Matthew Lloyd (ORHS Class of 1990), this production promises to be a dazzling showcase of talent, with music direction by Rhonda Mayfield, choreography by Kaylyn Mayfield, and conducted by Michael Spirko. The dedication and passion of the cast and crew shine through in every aspect of the performance, ensuring an enchanting experience for all who attend. In a heartfelt tribute, the Masquers production of Anastasia is dedicated to Señor Lloyd Wattenbarger, a beloved 25-year Masquers Sponsor and ORHS Spanish teacher, who passed away in November. Señor Wattenbarger's impact on the Oak Ridge community and his dedication to the arts continue to inspire generations of students and colleagues. To honor Señor Wattenbarger's memory, there will be a reception on Saturday, March 2nd at 1pm, prior to the matinee performance. Former students, teachers, friends, family, and community members are invited to attend and share pictures and memories of Señor Wattenbarger. Henry Lloyd Wattenbarger, 78, passed away November 19, 2023 after a courageous battle with several health issues. Señor Wattenbarger and his beloved wife Jackie Jacoby were sponsors of the Masquer's Club student play productions for 25 years. Wattenbarger was the overall director while Jacoby, an ORHS physics teacher, led technical crew and set design.
