Amythyst Kiah

Experience the soulful journey of Tennessee-bred singer/songwriter Amythyst Kiah as she explores her inner world through music. Her new album, Still + Bright, merges storytelling with a unique twist on rootsy alt-rock, creating a cinematic experience that landed on Rolling Stone's list of the Best Country and Americana Albums of 2021. Kiah, who has had two featured appearances on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, will perform songs she has written as she plays guitar or banjo. Her song "Black Myself" received a 2020 Grammy nomination for Best American Roots Song. Her first Grammy nomination came in 2019 as a member of Rhiannon Gidden's all-women-of-color group, "Our Native Daughters." The free concert, in honor of Black History Month, is the first 2025 presentation of Oak Ridge's "Our American Roots: An Exploration of Cultures" series, now in its third year. The series is presented by the Oak Ridge Institute for Continued Learning and the Oak Ridge Breakfast Rotary Club. The concert is made possible by grants from the Tennessee Arts Commission and Rotary District 6780. Periodic Tables of Oak Ridge is a sponsor.
