Book Signing with Local Authors Georgiana Vines & Stephen Lyn Bales

Support small business, meet local authors, and bring home a one-of-a-kind gift for the readers in your life! Come out to Long's Drug Store on Kingston Pike, Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9:00-11:00 am, where journalist Georgiana Vines and naturalist Stephen Lyn Bales will be signing books and discussing their work. Georgiana Vines, retired associate editor of the Knoxville News Sentinel, came to Knoxville in 1968 and has lived here ever since except for two years when she was in El Paso, Texas. She continues to write a political column every two weeks for the News Sentinel and knoxnews.com. In 2019, the University of Tennessee Press published her first book, “East Tennessee Newsmakers: Where Are They Now?”, a collection of 47 stories originally appearing in the News Sentinel and updated. Among awards she has received are a Lifetime Achievement Award from the East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame, sponsored by Friends of Literacy, 2015; and induction into the 50-Year Club, Tennessee Press Association, 2016. Stephen Lyn Bales is a native of Gatlinburg. He was an educator naturalist at Ijams Nature Center for 20 years and currently does a monthly nature chat for the UT Arboretum Society. He is the author of four books—"Natural Histories," "Ghost Birds," "Rising From the Ashes," and "Ephemeral by Nature"—all published by the University of Tennessee Press.
