Children's Defense Fund - Community Teach-in & March to Promote Reading
Youth advocates, students, and parents will gather to discuss ways to promote reading and amplify their message as to why access to culturally relevant books matters. At 2 p.m., attendees will then march from the Knoxville Convention Center to Krutch Park, before returning to the convention center.
This public event is scheduled as a part of the Ella Baker Child Policy Training Institute organized by the national youth advocacy organization Children’s Defense Fund. The week-long conference in downtown Knoxville helps train hundreds of college-aged young people how to teach CDF Freedom Schools® curriculum at CDF Freedom Schools program sites across America.
