Go! Contemporary Dance Works presents THE BARBAROSA based on the true story of Anne Bonny, the legendary female pirate. Presented at the Bijou Theatre, this swashbuckling ballet will tell the playful and chilling true story of Anne Bonny, the legendary female pirate, following Anne's story from childhood to Ship Captain, The BARBAROSA features aerial artistry, sword fighting, net climbing, and of course, pirates leaving its audience both mesmerized and inspired! Join our ship setting sale from the Bijou Theatre. Performances are Saturday 2/24 @ 2pm & 7pm and Sunday, 2/25 @ 2pm.
GO! Contemporary Dance Works sets sail in its 20th season with a raucous and fantastical performance that follows Anne from her privileged life in the Carolinas to her pirate adventures on the high seas. Act One begins on Anne's father's Carolina plantation where she rebels against her proper and privileged life. Sneaking into a boy's fencing class, Anne learns to wield a sword. Act Two takes to the high seas onboard Anne's ship. With full wind in its sail and swinging ropes and nets, The Barbarosa's surly band search for their next raucous adventure! Good for all ages.
