Center For Literacy Presents: A Tribute to Tony Bennett In Words & Music

The Center for Literacy, in association with the Philadelphia Theatre Company, presents a gala literary musical fund-raiser: A Tribute to Tony Bennett in Words & Music. This original production combines beloved songs from Bennett's rich repertoire with stories and slides from his amazing life as a singer, painter and philanthropist. It showcases the vocal talent of the show's creator, popular Philadelphia performer Eddie Bruce, who is known as one of the premiere interpreters of Bennett's music. Bruce, backed by the incomparable Tom Adams Trio, shares the stage with author David Evanier, who provides entertaining anecdotes from his recent Bennett biography, All the Things You Are. The program benefits the work of Philadelphia's Center for Literacy, the nation's largest literacy provider.

The one-night only performance will be held Monday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Philadelphia Theatre Company's Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad Street on Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia. General admission is $50 patron tickets are $150 and include a dessert reception and personally signed copies of both Evanier's book, the highly acclaimed All the Things You are: The Life of Tony Bennett (Wiley Press: 2011) and Bruce's CD "Bruce on Bennett: A Loving Tribute to an American Music Treasure.� The book and CD will also be available for sale that night.
