Orienteering in Nickerson State Park Sat. Nov 12

Orienteering is a fun outdoor activity for the whole family in which you walk or run in the woods, using only a map and compass to guide you. The goal is to find spots in the woods and return to the start/finish area. Bring a compass if you have one. A small number of compasses will be available for loan.

At 10:00, 10:45, 11:15, 12:00 there will be instruction for beginners, followed by the opportunity to run a practice course. ***Pre-registration required for the beginner training; limited spots available*** Go to the New England Orienteering Club (NEOC) website shown below to pre-register and to learn more about orienteering.

Picnic, informal course analysis, and map discussion with the mappers will begin around 12:30 pm. Bring your own picnic. Be sure to remove all your trash as there are no trash cans in the park.
