PATTERSON’S NEW EVERYTHING TAX WILL RAISE COSTS FOR WORKING FAMILIES
Missouri House Speaker Jon Patterson of Lee’s Summit has sponsored a bill (HJR 174) in the Legislature that would massively increase taxes on EVERYTHING - just to give a tax cut to his rich campaign donors.
The Patterson Everything Tax Plan will:
- Cost most Missouri families $500 MORE a year in new sales taxes on everything we spend money on—doctor visits, medications, even paper towels—in order to eliminate the income tax.
- Severely increase taxes for seniors, retired teachers and anyone with a public pension, and those with fixed incomes who will be forced to pay higher prices on everyday goods.
- Strip $42 million from Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs schools which is the equivalent of wiping out the salaries of nearly 400 teachers in EACH district.
