The 10th annual Taste of the Junction Multicultural Festival is Labor Day Weekend! Kicking off the weekend is The Junction Speaks on Friday, September 2. It's a live experience of shared history and personal stories going back six generations. The origins and histories of Europeans, Serbian, Mexican and African Americans in Valley Junction have been curated, recorded and published to be preserved and shared. The Pop-up History Museum opens at 3:00 pm at the Raccoon River Nature Lodge in West Des Moines with live speakers from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Taste of the Junction festival with Live Music, Ice-cold Beverages, Food Vendors, Arts and Crafts, Kids Fun Zone and Market Street Shopping is Saturday, September 3 in the Historic Valley Junction, featuring Sumpin Doo from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Orquesta Alto Maiz from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm in the Railroad Park Music Pavilion. The event is free and open to the pubic. All are welcome. This 2-day event is for everyone who has ever lived, worked, or just come to play in the Junction. Maybe this year will be your first time!
