From late 1973 through 1975, during Lennon’s highly creative and often misunderstood “Lost Weekend” period, Pang was his companion and lover. Now, Jacksonville-area Beatles and classic rock fans will have a rare opportunity to see Lennon through Pang’s lens at a special three-day exhibition, “The Lost Weekend – The Photography of May Pang,” at Gallery 725, 13475 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL, Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15, 2026. Admission is free and open to the public. The exhibition features a collection of Pang’s candid, intimate photographs of Lennon taken during this pivotal 18-month period. Captured in relaxed, private settings, the images reveal a side of Lennon rarely seen by the public. All works will be available for purchase, with Pang appearing in person throughout the weekend to meet fans, share behind-the-scenes stories, and sign purchased photographs. During the “Lost Weekend,” Lennon experienced one of the most artistically and commercially successful stretches of his post-Beatles career, releasing the albums Mind Games, Walls and Bridges (which included his only solo #1 hit single, “Whatever Gets You Thru the Night”), and Rock and Roll. He also collaborated with Elton John, David Bowie, Harry Nilsson, Mick Jagger, and Ringo Starr, among others. Pang can be heard whispering Lennon’s name on “#9 Dream,” and Lennon wrote “Surprise, Surprise (Sweet Bird of Paradox)” about her. Pang also played a pivotal role behind the scenes. She encouraged Lennon to reconnect with family and friends, leading to a reunion and memorable jam session with Paul McCartney. She arranged for Julian Lennon to visit his father for the first time in nearly three years; one of Pang’s photographs of Julian now graces the cover of Julian’s latest album, Jude. Exhibition highlights include: • The only known photograph of John Lennon signing the contract to dissolve The Beatles. • One of the last photographs ever taken of John Lennon and Paul McCartney together (March 29, 1974). • Rare images from the Santa Monica beach house where Lennon stayed with Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson, and others during the recording of Nilsson’s Pussy Cats, which Lennon produced. Many of these historic images have never before been available to the public. The exhibition coincides with the digital release of the feature-length documentary The Lost Weekend: A Love Story, produced by Briarcliff Entertainment, which explores Pang’s relationship with Lennon and her influence during this transformative chapter of his life. The film is now available on Tubi & Roku as well as Amazon Prime, Tubi, Roku, YouTube, Xfinity, and other platforms.
